Diamond The Most Expensive Jewelry

The most expensive of all jewelry resources is the diamond. Diamond is a kind of mineral known for its toughness and beauty. Because of its hardness and high diffusion quality, it is also used in industrial applications particularly as abrasive agent. In a year, an average of 26,000 kg or roughly around 130 million carats of diamonds are mined. It is estimated that the diamond industry's annual revenue is more than USD $9 billion.

Diamond got its name from an ancient Greek word adamas which literally means "impossible to tame". The first recorded use of diamond as a jewelry was way back 2,500 years ago in India. However, its first use was for drilling bits and engraving tools. In the 19th century, diamond jewelries became popular because of its improved cut and polished qualities. The co-called perfect diamond can be judged according to its four Cs - the carat, clarity, color, and cut.

One of the most popular diamond jewelry is the Diamond Stud Earrings Set in Platinum and Gold. Its varieties include the Princess-Cut Diamond Stud Earrings in Platinum, Round Diamond Stud Earrings in Platinum - 1/5 Carat Total Weight, Diamond Stud Earrings in 14K White Gold - 1/4 Carat Total Weight, Princess-Cut Diamond Stud Earrings in 18K White Gold, Heart Shaped Earrings with Diamonds Set in 18K White Gold, Round Diamond Stud Earrings in 18K Yellow Gold - 1/5 Carat Total, Diamond Stud Earrings - 1/2 Carat Total Weight in 18K White Gold, 18K White Gold & Diamond Prong Earrings with a Twist, and the Bezel-Set Diamond Stud Earrings 1 Carat Total Weight in 18K White Gold.

If diamonds are too expensive for you, the cubic zirconia is a perfect alternative. It is crafted out from of zirconium oxide and yttrium oxide. This jewelry resource was first discovered on 1937 in Germany. In the 1980's, Swarovski & Co. popularize its usage as an elegant jewelry.
